What type of trees do you have?

 The majority of the trees available this year are Norway Spruce, White Pine, Canaan Fir, and a few Blue Spruce. If you like this variety of trees, we will also have pre-cut Balsam Fir trees from Canada. These trees will average in height from 6 to 14 feet. 

 In total we have about 3,500 trees in various stages of growth.

How long does it take for trees to grow?

 It usually takes 6 to 10 years for trees to mature to the desired height to become a Christmas tree.

Is Donner Farms easily accessible?

 Donner Farms is located at 35514 Snickersville Turnpike, Purcellville, Virginia, on the Virginia Scenic Byway. Ample field parking is available for cars, SUVs, and family vans.

How do I select a tree for our family?

 The trees are scattered over eight acres on very walkable farmland. During your search for a tree, we will have family members and helpers to assist you in selecting, cutting, and moving your tree out of the field if you choose. You should wear outdoor clothing, boots, or hearty, warm, closed-toed shoes, and gloves.

Do I need my own saw?

 Hand saws will be provided for your use.  Please do not bring any electric or gas-powered chainsaws… they are not allowed.

What do I do after I cut a tree in the field?

 The trees will drag easily since the fields are all mowed and grassy.  At the barn, we can trim it further if you'd like.  We will shake the tree for unwanted leaves or other items, bale the tree for easier transport, apply a tag, and direct you to our cashier.   We will transport the tree to a holding area as you leave the farm and assist with loading it onto your vehicle. 

What form of payment do you accept?

 We accept all Visa and Master Cards, personal checks, and cash.

Does Donner Farms provide any food or beverages?

 We plan to offer warm cider free of charge.

Do you have a Christmas Shop?

 We will have a supply of handmade wreaths, bows, centerpieces, and tree stands and watering funnels for sale for your convenience. 

Can I bring my dog?

 Sorry, dogs are not allowed on the property.

Are there any safety concerns or areas that are off-limits?

 Please keep family members together. Since we have a working farm, some items pose a safety risk. We ask you, especially children, to refrain from climbing on any equipment in the barn areas. Yellow caution tape will identify those areas of concern.

Do you have bathroom facilities?

 Yes, we have a portable toilet on site.
